Director + Cinematographer

Mario Contini is an award-winning director and cinematographer with a passion for storytelling that seamlessly blends technical expertise with artistic vision. A Southern California native, Mario has built an impressive portfolio spanning music videos, commercials, television, and film. His work includes music videos for artists such as Post Malone, 2 Chainz, and Rich the Kid, as well as commercial work for brands like Walmart, Dr. Pepper, Adidas, JD Sports, and Lowe’s. On the narrative side, Mario has served as a camera operator and 2nd Unit DP on acclaimed television series like Gaslit (Universal/Starz) starring Sean Penn and Julia Roberts, and Beef (Netflix/A24).

A graduate of Cal State University Northridge with a degree in Film Production, Mario began his career in the lighting department, where his work earned recognition from Kodak and the ASC. Transitioning to the camera department, he honed his craft under some of the industry’s top cinematographers, becoming known for his “stylish” lighting techniques and versatility.

Mario’s feature documentary Bottle Conditioned has screened at festivals including SIFF, Docville, and the Florida Film Festival, further showcasing his dedication to compelling visual storytelling.

When not on set, Mario enjoys freestyle BMX, organic gardening, DIY projects, and exploring the outdoors. And when the day winds down, his drink of choice is an oak barrel-aged mixed culture saison.
